A day on the beach, playing games, and listening to… experts share their best tips and tools for children. Yep, you read that right! We’re going to be in Santa Monica on October 20th talking about the power of play. And then let the games begin!
Introducing a fun-packed day of speakers and workshops on using play to develop active and bullying-free communities. Parents, educators and community members are welcome to Play On 2012. A fee of $25 includes inspiring speaker on the value of play, panel where all your questions can be answered, fun and games, supervised activities for your children and parking!
Kevin Carroll, acclaimed author of Rules of the Red Rubber Ball and play advocate, returns to Play On as keynote speaker. An agent for social change, Kevin helps harness the power of sport and play to build healthy and thriving communities. His brilliance on the stage will inspire you to step up to the plate and play.
Top play experts will serve on a panel. Panelists will discuss social and emotional learning, empathy, bullying prevention and other issues that live on playgrounds and provide valuable insights and information that can be put to use immediately.
Of course a play conference isn’t complete without active play. Participants will enjoy a hands-on training session on creating safe play spaces. The training session will introduce the importance of play and physical activity that is fun, safe, and inclusive; explore the benefits of play and the barriers youth face when accessing play, and provide tools and resources for creating an inclusive and respectful environment.
Past attendees love Play On, saying it’s “good, actionable content. Effective presenters. LOTS OF GAMES! Great, friendly, enthusiastic, participating attendees.” And sharing that there is “Great consistent modeling of play techniques, cheers, etc. The conference was even more fun than I expected. I felt very connected to the play community.”
In addition to the sessions and training for adults, Play On features fun, supervised activities for children 4 – 12. Lunch and parking are included in admission price.
