Vote today for the winner of our new games contest

We asked you to submit your favorite new games to a contest to find the best fun and original games to play. Carefully gathering those submissions, we took the best ones to our Games Lab. Together on the turf at our national headquarters, some of the biggest games experts from our Playworks Nation read, learned and played your games.

And now, we have three finalists who are competing for your votes to be declared the Playworks New Game of 2011. Here’s how you can help: Head over to our Facebook page, (be sure you’re a fan by clicking the “like” button,) click on the Notes, vote for one or more of the games by clicking “like” on their post.

And the finalist are…

Group Count – submitted by San Francisco Playworks coach Wayne Everbeck. Though this game was not new to the entire Playworks staff, it was missing from the Playworks playbook. This game is great for transitions, as time fillers, and for calming young minds and bodies. In fact, the Playworks staff played an impromptu game of Group Count during Camp while waiting for speakers’ technical issues to be solved.

Human Tic Tac Toe – submitted by a Boston student in our leadership development program (Junior Coach), this game is a fun variation of one in our playbook. Adding movement and people in tic-tac-toe squares made this game even more fun to play and learn!

Hantis – was completely new to Playworks staff. Submitted by co-creator Thaxton Marshall, we learned about this game from both the written instructions and a video submitted. During the Games Lab, we spent a lot of our time trying and failing (at first), but practiced and had a great time learning this fun new game.

Don’t forget to go vote!
