Building healthier kids with support from our friends at Action for Healthy Kids

Playworks is proud to support Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK). AFHK supports schools and communities in providing healthy foods, nutritional instruction, and physical activity to kids in schools across the country.

AFHK is supporting schools in two important ways right now: offering grants to schools and hosting the fifth annual Every Kid Healthy Week. The following two grant applications are open through April 7, 2017.

  • Is your school looking to pilot or expand your breakfast program? Apply for the School Breakfast grant.
  • Is your school supporting physical activity and/or nutrition initiatives in schools (including Playworks)? Apply for the Game On grant.

Visit actionforhealthykids.org/grants for more information.

Every Kid Healthy Week is April 24 – 28, 2017. Any school can participate by hosting a health-promoting event, such as planting a garden, hosting a walk-a-ton, or running a community healthy foods taste test, and registering the event with Action for Healthy Kids. Find more ideas and resources at everykidhealthyweek.org.
