This is a great game for indoor recess and/or a brain break. In this game, players will need to remember which direction to jump as the caller tries to trick them.

Goal

Correctly jump the right direction to stay in the game.

Before You Start

  • Ensure all players have enough room to jump safely in place.
  • Assign each wall in the room a number (i.e. 1,2,3,4…).
  • Players will always turn the same direction when they jump, so assign a direction (clockwise or counter clockwise).
  • Choose a person to be the caller of the numbers/walls.
  • Practice jumping, turning, and facing the correct walls when the caller says a number.

Set Up

None

How to Play

  • When the caller says a number, each person must jump and spin to face that wall, moving in the direction that was decided upon (clockwise or counter clockwise)
  • Each person needs to stay in their own spot rather than physically tagging the wall. Players “tag” the wall by landing and facing the correct wall.
  • If a player does not spin all the way to the called wall OR spins in the wrong direction, that player must do _______ (say I’m awesome, 5 jumping jacks, get a high 5, etc.)

Variations

  • Play elimination style.
  • Assign compass directions to the walls.
  • If a player is unable to jump, they can do a modified movement like spinning or pointing.
