Golden State Warriors Player Steph Curry and Playworks President Elizabeth Cushing talked about play for every kid with US Surgeon General Vivek Murthy at the Get Fit Time-Out, hosted by Kaiser Permanente.
Playworks has teamed up with New Balance to offer the SparkStart Fitness Challenge across the nation. Students at Cesar Chavez participated in fitness challenges twice a week over the course of six weeks. San Francisco Giants third baseman, Matt Duffy, came to support the kids and their hard work for the closing ceremony event.
"I'd rather go out and be present outside, active and involved spending 15 minutes playing every day instead of spending 30-45 minutes suspending a kid. Now, part of my job is to play with kids and teach them how to play instead of laying down the law."
