Playworks Coach provides elementary schools with a recess coach throughout the school day and after school. Coaches lead recess time and Playworks’ signature Junior Coach Leadership Program for students, as well as creating opportunities for play throughout the day such as class game time.

Relay
Relay provides consistent, semi-monthly support from a trained Playworks Site Specialist who is on campus 9-10 days each month. The Specialist models recess best practices, facilitates Class Game Time, and trains Junior Coaches to lead and support their peers. Relay strengthens school recess teams while building staff and student capacity to sustain healthy play.
TeamUp
With Playworks TeamUp, a Playworks expert collaborates across a cohort of schools each month to model and teach strategies, games, and systems to each school’s recess team to develop and sustain a high-quality and sustainable recess program at your site.
TeamUp Plus
TeamUp Plus empowers schools to run their own high-quality recess with consultative support from a Playworks Site Coordinator. A Site Coordinator visits regularly, 9-10 days each month, to coach staff, train Junior Coaches, and provide consultation on systems and leadership strategies. TeamUp builds staff confidence and creates sustainable recess practices that last beyond the partnership.
Playworks PRO
Playworks PRO provides professional training and ongoing development to school staff, paraprofessionals, and community organization staff to create and maintain great recess and play environments. We offer multiple courses in our PRO program, including the Power of Play, Group Management, Recess Implementation, Indoor Recess Design, and more.
- Recess Reboot:Playworks provides four days of on-site modeling and consulting with adults at your school to help improve the recess experience for everyone. Your team will learn to implement recess strategies, design an actionable plan to sustain a positive recess experience, and prepare to create and sustain a youth leadership program.
- Recess Implementation: Playworks expert trainers will lead your team through a two-day training that introduces best practices around recess systems, teaches and models games and group management strategies, and leads your team through an action planning process to enable you to sustain a high-quality recess.
- Instructional Coaching – Year long, monthly consultation and modeling for schools districts working to scale healthy recess practices.
- Consultative Visit: Our experts observe recess or playtime and utilize our years of expertise to build an action plan with you. The strategies included will help you, alongside your school or organization’s leadership and team, to identify and address opportunities for improvement.
- Power of Play: Energize your team through play-based practices that lay the foundation for a safe, healthy play environment in a half-day training.
- Group Management: Learn five proactive group management strategies adults can use to set youth up for successful group behavior in a half-day training.
- Recess Design – A hands-on planning session to map playground spaces, define staff roles, and organize inviting game areas.
- Game Facilitation – Practical training to help staff lead fun, inviting games with confidence and structure.
- Indoor Recess – Strategies and ready-to-use games for keeping students active and engaged indoors.
- Playworks in the Classroom – Tools for integrating movement, brain breaks, and cooperative play into daily classroom routines.
- Youth Leadership: Playworks equips your staff with the tools to design and implement an effective Youth Leadership Program. You will leave the training with a plan to recruit, support and train student leaders on your recess playground and sustain a Youth Leadership Program.

Playworks TagTeam
Playworks TagTeam is a year-long certification program that builds capacity for out-of-school-time partners to run a recess service at schools in their community, including learning how to set up and maintain our signature Junior Coach Leadership Program.
