Playworks’ Run for Recess

The Playworks Denver 5K/10K Run for Recess went off without a hitch this year at Sloan's Lake Park in Denver. The 2013 Run for Recess was sponsored in part by ReadyTalk and Kaiser Permanente.

The race featured runners competing in 28 different age group categories, and was a family affair featuring runners from 3 to 76.

The Men’s 5K top three finishers were 1) Dan King (17:39), 2) Yusuf Ahmed (18:11), 3) Glen Blackburn (23:01). 

The Women’s 5K top three finishers were 1) Liinu Castaneda (26:40), 2) Tiffany Shelander (26:59), 3) Kelly Simmons (27:08).

The Men’s 10K top three finishers were 1) James Kimnach (49:47), 2) Kenny Gilfilen (49:49), 3) Daniel Kirby (50:43).

The Women’s 10K top three finishers were 1) September McKelvy (47:36), 2) Avery Kirby (50:43), 3) Moe Terry (57:12).

Other notable 5K finishers included Brian Roberts, age 12 (25:28) and Alex Zelaya, age 9 (25:47).
