Robert W. Baird & Co. goes to recess

  1. Updates

Robert W. Baird & Co. joined Playworks Milwaukee for a unique play experience offered through our Corporate Recess Program. Developed by Playworks, the national leader in play, Corporate Recess is customized for each group to transform their work space to a playground or bring their team to help transform a school playground. It engages staff in lively playground games that promote key skills that help kids and adults succeed in life.

Playworks Milwaukee is pleased to report that our Corporate Recess with Robert W. Baird & Co. was a huge success! The Corporate Recess took place at Hamlin Garland School with Coach Mitch. Employees started the morning with a Playworks fourth grade class game time. Class game time is a time for coaches to introduce students to sports and physical activity. During class game time, kids learn basic sports, playground games, as well as lessons on physical health and fitness and principles of violence prevention and safety. In addition to the class game time, participants also had the opportunity to play at recess with each grade, kindergarten through sixth.

We felt incredibly fortunate to have such an amazing group of participants! Employees engaged in team-building games and joined in a variety of activities with the kids, including rainbow tag, hot shot soccer, switch, ultimate football, and kickball.

Employees rated their experience excellent and recognized the need to engage in play with colleagues in order to increase teamwork, become more productive, and network with associates they do not interact with on a daily basis. Having a healthy, positive, and inclusive environment for play is just as important for adults as it is for kids! One participant summed up this fact by stating, “It was a fantastic experience and I will look forward to this event next spring. It’s amazing what you can learn from elementary school children that could be applied to the workplace environment.”
