Playworks SoCal AmeriCorps Members are Making a Difference

  1. Updates

Playworks SoCal’s AmeriCorps members partnered with the StubHub! Center Foundation and Los Angeles Galaxy Foundation to make a difference at the 10th Annual Treats-n-Suites Halloween Bash. Los Angeles sports teams, businesses, and service organizations decorated luxury suites and provided fun activities for local youth. Participants included the Los Angeles Kings, Los Angeles Sparks, Los Angeles Galaxy, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG), YMCA, Playworks SoCal, and others.

The Treats-n-Suites Halloween Bash provided families with an opportunity to enjoy Halloween-themed, family-oriented activities in a safe and playful environment. Children participated in trick-or-treating, carnival games, hayrides, and a costume parade featuring a player from the LA Galaxy.

More than 1,000 trick-or-treaters and their families were greeted by 28 enthusiastic AmeriCorps members, who gave high-fives and pumped up the crowd. AmeriCorps members joined children in games of foursquare, jump rope, and switch. They also modeled positive behavior by encouraging high-fives, “good job, nice tries,” and conflict resolution strategies like ro-sham-bo (rock, paper, scissors). The members also facilitated the costume parade and provide an experience that the kids will not forget.
High-five to the Playworks SoCal AmeriCorps members! You made a difference.
