Playworks’ Coach awarded California’s AmeriCorps Volunteer of the Year

  1. Updates

Playworks Southern California is excited to announce Coach Luciano Mondolo has been awarded California’s AmeriCorps Volunteer of the Year at the 2012 Governor’s Volunteer and Service Awards! This was Coach Mondolo’s first year as an AmeriCorps Program Coordinator, but even as a rookie he rocked it his first year! We couldn’t agree more that Luciano deserves this award because his dedicated efforts not only fulfilled the Playworks mission, but impacted the Norwalk community.  His committed passion influenced by his own two sons, Coach Luciano stated in his acceptance speech regarding his efforts to create healthy, inclusive play during recess , "As a father that's how I would want to see my kids play".

His commitment to recess, the students, and building the community relationship are all features that make Luciano Mondolo a perfect recipient for the AmeriCorps Volunteer of the Year Award. Congratulations Coach Luciano from everyone at Playworks Southern California!
