Transformation: A Road to Confidence

  1. Updates

Martha is an energetic fifth grader with a contagious smile and a love for play.  At most recesses you will find her dribbling a basketball and honing her defensive skills trying to keep the ball away from the Playworks coach at her school!

Last year she participated in Playworks’ co-ed Volleyball league and explained that the experience, “encouraged me to do my best work,” and further described it as a “good opportunity for me to exercise.”  Marta’s experience on the volleyball team also helped her build confidence. “Even though I’m really shy, when I’m with the team I feel encouraged!” she describes.  Martha brings this new found leadership to the playground everyday where she helps organize games on the playground and encourages her friends and peers.

Marta’s love for play and constant smile make the playground a welcoming place for all students and her enthusiasm for Playworks’ programs is contagious.  We’ll see you on the court for the Playworks’ girls basketball league in the Spring!
