Most Valuable Player of the Month: Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island!

  1. Updates

Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI)  has been a dedicated partner of Playworks New England for several years. For the month of September, Playworks New England is honoring BCBSRI as the Playworks New England Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Month!

BCBSRI has collaborated on many projects with Playworks, most notably with #RecessRocksinRI. BCBSRI has provided over $400,000 to make sure Rhode Island schools foster safe and healthy play through a collaboration with Playworks and the Rhode Island Healthy Schools Coalition. BCBSRI’s commitment to the physical well-being of Rhode Island students has allowed for a wide-spread implementation of Playworks services throughout the Rhode Island area.

In recent news, on Friday, September 25, 2020, Playworks New England participated in the annual Blue Across Rhode Island (BARI) Service Day.  Hosting nearly 20 volunteers, BCBSRI associates built social-emotional kits and painted inspiring murals for all children at the Webster Avenue Elementary School in Providence, RI. These kits contained all items that encourage kids to take screen breaks – jump ropes, coloring books, fidget spinners, etc. Murals were painted and will be hung around the school play yard to encourage students to maintain social distancing, wear a mask, and encourage the school expectations: Be Responsible, Be Respectful, and Be Safe.

Playworks is grateful for the continued support of partners like Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island!
