Coach Gianna Makes Excellent Happen

  1. Updates
Coach Gianna and her recess coach at the Sumner Elementary School

Coach Gianna has stepped up her game for the 2017-18 school year, transitioning her two years experience as a coach into her new role as a Site Coordinator. This year, Gianna is working to transform the school environment with safe and healthy play in four schools in Dorchester and Roslindale.

Coach Gianna has shown dedication, flexibility, and enthusiasm in her work to make Playworks programming sustainable in her schools. She communicates with staff openly, professionally, and positively to ensure recess runs smoothly at each of her four TeamUp schools. During the beginning of the school year, she led several teacher trainings to engage and empower her schools’ staff members to create a safe, healthy, and fun school climate. She continues to keep the sustainability of the Playworks programming in the forefront of her mind by inviting the school staff to join additional Playworks trainings for continuous professional development opportunities. Coach Gianna has taken great steps to create a welcoming environment in each of her schools with smiles, high-fives, and colorful Playworks bulletin boards.

Coach Gianna continues to make excellent happen at the Codman, Haley, Russell, and Sumner schools with her contagious positivity, her poise under pressure, and her demonstrated commitment to the Playworks core values. She is actively encouraging her schools to stay active and integrated into the greater Boston community by attending an interscholastic Volleyball Extravaganza. We are confident that Coach Gianna will continue to make excellent happen in her schools and beyond for the rest of the 2017-18 school year.
