Partnership with Aurora Public Schools to Strengthen SEL Skills

  1. Updates

Aurora Public Schools is partnering with Playworks to increase opportunities for kids to gain critical social and emotional skills through play. This new support is available to elementary school students at 32 elementary schools throughout the district.

“SEL is the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions,” explains the Collaborative for Academic, Social, and Emotional Learning.

This new support will help teachers, address the trauma kids have experienced during the pandemic, support making up for lost learning by making recess a valuable contribution to the school day, and supporting kids with their Social Emotional Learning and physical activity.
