We are happy to announce Julieta Desrosiers as the Recess Team Member of the Month! Julieta has been a part of the Mariposa community for many years. She helps out in the front office, aids recess for kinder through fifth grade, and helps coordinate and throw school-wide events. When asked to take on the job of recess coach, she accepted happily and exceeded the expectations immediately.
Julieta's rapport with the students of Mariposa was evident from day one which made it easy for her to jump in the game and have fun. She was quick to add new games to the playground and try on different transition ideas. When the Junior Coaches began their leadership program, she was dedicated to helping them succeed by holding them accountable to their job as a role model for others.
Recently, Coach Ashley and Julieta had a discussion about how to keep Junior Coaches engaged halfway through the year. After this meeting, she quickly began to establish fun ideas to keep them motivated. She ensured that they became a regular part of the filmed morning announcements. Junior Coaches speak and show examples of the "recess norms" that Julieta came up with: be inclusive; be a good sport; have fun. They are also involved in picking a new student each week to be the recess rockstar!
On top of all these wonderful things, she keeps in constant contact with Coach Ashley and the fifth-grade teachers about the progress of each Junior Coach. She is dedicated to all of the students at Mariposa and to making the culture one of inclusion, respect, and healthy play. Let's give Julieta a jellyfish fist bump for doing her part to #EnergizeAZ!
