Eight local businesses participated in Seventh Annual Corporate Kickball Tournament raising $20,000 to help Playworks SoCal bring safe and healthy play to elementary schools.

Los Angeles, CA–June 21, 2018– Playworks Southern California held their seventh annual Corporate Kickball Tournament raising over $20,000 that will help bring safe and healthy play to elementary schools. Local companies including ESPN, Cupertino Electric, Speedo, DPR Construction, PwC, CSI Electrical Contractors, and New Balance came together at University of Southern California’s Dedeaux Field. This organized day of play gives teams the chance to engage in a fun game of kickball while making a valuable contribution towards the well-being of children in Southern California.

“Companies like PwC, Speedo, and ESPN who bring their employees out for a fun day are showing their commitment to safe and healthy play in the communities where their employees live and work,” said LaVal Brewer, executive director of Playworks SoCal. This tournament got employees out of the office to play and promote teamwork in a fun and safe environment. Eight companies played in the fundraiser on June 21st with CSI Electrical Contractors, Inc. taking first place and earning bragging rights until next year’s event. The corporate kickball event offered a team building opportunity that demonstrated Playworks’ mission of creating an inclusive and non-competitive play environment. “What an awesome event our Team experienced for such a worthy cause,” said Jeff Davis, VP Construction from CSI Electrical Contractors. “It was a healthy way for our employees to engage with one another outside of work and build on their camaraderie while giving back to our community.”
