Elementary Students Fine-Tune Basketball Skills at Portland Trail Blazers Community Team Girls Clinic

  1. Updates

On Saturday, November 9th, 41 students from various Portland elementary schools attended a girls basketball skills clinic hosted by the Portland Trail Blazers Community team at the Blazers Boys and Girls Club. To kick off the day, the Blazers Community team led stretches, then focused on teamwork and the fundamentals of basketball.

With the help of Playworks AmeriCorps Coaches, attendees learned how to pass, dribble, shoot, and play defense. The girls gave it their all as they showed off their new skills on the court with smiles lighting up their faces.

Without a doubt, coaches and children alike had a blast getting active through basketball. The Portland Trail Blazers mascot, Blaze the Trail Cat, even made a surprise visit to cheer them on with dance moves and plenty of high fives!
