Calling all Volleyball players!

  1. Updates

Bump. Set. Spike. High-5! The beginning of volleyball season started with a bang this year when over 75 4/5th grade volleyball players came out to the University of Portland for the second annual Playworks Co-ed Volleyball Extravaganza on March 5th. Students were led through several stations to learn the skills of serving, passing, spiking, and great teamwork. We brought the volleyballs, shirts, snack and coaches, while the Pilots Women’s Volleyball team provided the nets and wonderful space at the Chiles Center.

After the skills and drills session, participants were treated to a demonstration of collegiate level volleyball by the Pilots Volleyball team. The demonstration provided students with an example of the excellence they can achieve in volleyball and the pure joy of the sport. As a youth development organization we help build healthy bodies and minds so we didn’t end with just the play and physical activity elements of the sport. Participants had a Q&A sessions with the Pilots to learn more about being a student athlete, working hard in and out of the classroom and what it means to be a good teammate and better person.

At the end of the day students were inspired and excited to start the season and build something special with their teammates. To find out more information on schedules of games see the Portland League News section. To volunteer or support our leagues in anyway please fill out our online application.
