Playworks Northern California Staff Retreat

  1. Updates

Over 90 Playworks Northern California staff members from Silicon Valley, the East Bay, and San Francisco gathered at Kennedy Park in Union City on May 3 for our Annual Staff Retreat!

Individuals facilitated small group discussions centered on professional development. Topics included:

  • Setting the Tone for Your Day
  • Implementing Systems for Success
  • Best Practices for Navigating Challenging Behaviors
  • New Game Development

After a delicious lunch of tacos, beans, rice, chips, and salsa generously donated to us by Cinco TacoBar, groups broke out for large group games. We played Rugby, Ultimate Castle Ball, Capture the Cone, and Relay Supreme designed by one of our very own staff members. Through play, our team members from different offices connected with one another in an authentic way.

The day ended with a dodgeball game of AmeriCorps members against staff. Our AmeriCorps members are critical to our mission. Their year of service brings safe, healthy, and inclusive play to our community. They are also great at dodgeball and were more successful than our staff team.

As the school year comes to a close, we want to celebrate all our staff who bring our mission to life.
