For our first AmeriCorps driven service project, the team spent a gorgeous morning learning all about one of the best kept secrets in Silicon Valley, the San Jose Heritage Rose Garden located right next to the airport. After getting a brief lesson on the history of the garden, the team took on the task of pruning a small section of the four acre lot which houses 3,400 different varieties of roses. A few of us got caught by a few thorns, but we all came out smelling like roses!
