Google Revamps Recess at ER Taylor Elementary

  1. Updates

30 Google employees and Playworks staff descended on the bleak and faded playground at ER Taylor Elementary Tuesday, June 8th.  We kicked off the day with some recess playground basics like 4-square and circle dodgeball and then got to work.

With the help of Hands on Bay Area and Kelley Moore Paints, our team had more than enough paint, lacquer and tools to transform ER Taylor's playground in true Playworks style.  Place spaces got game boundaries and color.  "The progress made in 2 hours is very satisfying, it really shows the kids the community cares," said Principal Virginia Dodd, "I can't wait to see the looks on their faces in August."

In partnership with the PTA, Playworks also gave Paul Revere Elementary's playground a face lift on Saturday, June 5th.  From bare blacktop to bright colors, it was so hot the paint dried as  fast as we could get it down.  Students played basketball on the freshly created court minutes after we finished proving again that a Playworks recess playground really does get kids moving.
