The 1st Annual 5k Run/Walk for Recess will be held on Saturday, October 9th from 9am-11am at Branch Brook Park (at Elwood Ave and Lake St) in Newark, New Jersey. This 5K certified course will challenge runners and walkers alike. The event also includes a 1 Mile Kids Fun Run, so people of all ages are encouraged to participate.

If you have not registered, please arrive at 8:15 am to complete registration.

Cost: Adults $25, College Students $15, Kids (ages 2-17) $10

Come run (or walk) for recess! Playworks Newark is hosting our First Annual 5K Run for Recess! Join students, teachers, business leaders, and community members to get moving for play on Saturday, October 9th from 9:00am-11am at Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ. This 5K certified course will challenge runners and walkers alike. The event also includes a 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk, so people of all ages and ability are encouraged to participate.

This year, Playworks Newark will operate in 14 inner city schools in Greater Newark and Roselle, providing over 5,000 children with the opportunity to engage in physical activity and healthy play everyday.  Your support and participation in this event will help to ensure that we are able to successfully implement our programs this year.

Individual Support
•    Registration fee is $25 for the 5K Run/Walk and $10 for the 1 Mile Fun Run/Walk (Family Package is $60 and includes 2 entries for the 5K and 2 entries for the Fun Run)
•    We ask that all participants pledge to raise $167, which is the approximate cost for one child to participate in the Playworks Newark program for a year.
