Let’s Play: Coach Abby Rocks Recess at Irvington Community Elementary!

  1. Updates

Coach Abby joins Playworks IN for the 2016-2017 school year! We are super excited to have her lead recess at Irvington Community Elementary. Abby has a wealth of knowledge when it comes to central Indiana. Born and raised on the northwest side of the city, she knows what makes her community groove. She also applies her background in exercise science from Indiana University into play every day, as she guides her kids through safe, collaborative, and inclusive games.

We are so excited about Coach Abby and all that she brings to building the movement of play in central Indiana.

What is your favorite recess game?

I love a great game of kickball and the kids at Irvington Community love to play!

What excites you about Playworks?

I love that Playworks combines physical activity and social skills into one program in order to impact the whole child.

Do you have a favorite sport?

I love rowing! It is great to be out on the water and work as a team.

How do you spend your time outside of school?

When I am not out at recess, I really enjoy spending time with my family. Running and watching movies are also great ways to unwind at the end of the week. If I need to break away, I head out to Eagle Creek Park—my favorite place in Indianapolis.
