Volleyball Extravaganza

  1. Updates

Playworks Georgia kicked off this year’s Co-Ed Volleyball League with our annual Volleyball Extravaganza! Volleyball teams from five of our schools, each led by a rockstar AmeriCorps Coach, gathered at KIPP WAYS Academy for a morning of skill-building, teamwork, and fun!

We started the day with a welcome cheer led by our superstar Program Manager and League Coordinator, Danyel. Then the students learned the three Playworks league rules: Respect the Game, Play Hard and (of course) HAVE FUN! The students spent the rest of the morning rotating to different stations and learning how to bump, set, and serve. The students were able to get familiar with the rules while building the skills and confidence to get in the game.

The purpose of our league is to provide an opportunity for physical activity in a safe, fun, and supportive environment. Our goal is to teach our players the basic skills and good sporting behavior necessary in order to succeed in a team sport like volleyball. The Playworks Volleyball League creates a positive environment of respect and opportunities for team-building that carry over into the classroom.

The season is off to an exciting start. Playworks Leagues are developmental in nature, so our intention is not to determine which team “wins”. Our goal is to offer a positive and noncompetitive sports experience.
