Coach Devon understands the power of healthy community at her school so much that she has made it possible for every single student to experience Playworks. During the month of September, Coach Devon planned and implemented a Playworks Junior High Incentive Day. On this day, Junior High students (who normally don’t have class game time or recess with Coach Devon) were able to come outside for some Playworks team building and fun! This was especially exciting to 7th-grade students who had Coach Devon last year. Working closely with administration and Junior High teachers, nearly 70 students were able to participate in this “earned” Playworks time.
A huge success, Coach Devon plans to continue with Junior High Incentive Days, which promote positive behavior and grades among students and ultimately promote inclusion at Sylvestre S. Herrera School.
Additionally, Coach Devon continues to energize Arizona by building excellent relationships with staff members at her school. Armed with high-5’s and punch-lines, Coach Devon recently took an active role in her school’s Playworks Teacher Training. Her enthusiasm about the training showed so much that a lunch monitor decided to attend—despite not being obligated to!
Throughout the month of September, Coach Devon has shown a tireless work ethic and commitment to the entire Herrera Panther community. We are proud to honor Coach Devon in leading our movement to #EnergizeAZ.
