This honor is granted in conjunction with the highly revered golden trophy award. \u00a0Coach Casey\u00a0has graciously accepted these honors at Midvalley Elementary.<\/p>\n<p>Casey McQuerry, better known as &#8220;Coach Casey,&#8221; or sometimes even &#8220;King Casey,&#8221;\u00a0started with Playworks Utah just a few short months ago. Prior to Playworks, Casey was brightening the lives of children at the Utah Boys and Girls Club of Greater Salt Lake. \u00a0Here&#8217;s a little more about him:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Which core value is most important to you and why?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Respect is the most important to me because you really cannot have the other core values without respecting others on the playground. \u00a0Once the people on the playground understand how to respect each other, then they will include others automatically, they will develop healthy play habits and build that community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Why do you enjoy your job?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I enjoy my job because within the first weeks, I already see change happening within the school.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What other volunteer\/service-oriented experiences have you had?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve been on two church mission trips: one to a homesless shelter in Fort Worth, Texas\u00a0and one to Rose Bud Indian Reservation in South Dakota.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What are your favorite and least favorite foods?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>My favorite is pepperoni and pineapple stuffed crust pizza. \u00a0My least favorite is\u00a0seafood.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Tell us two fun facts about yourself!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I played Quidditch in college, and I have truly been a Royals fan my whole life\u2014not just since the 2014 season.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The AmeriCorps member of the Month is an honor we give to coaches who have gone above and beyond during their term of service.
