Playworks SoCal Partners with Orange County Community Foundation to Host Igniting Potential: A Giving Day to Support the Youth of Orange County<\/h2>\n

CARSON, California\u2014September 12, 2018.\u00a0Playworks Southern California will partner with the Orange County Community Foundation (OCCF) and eleven fellow nonprofits on September 12 to host\u00a0Igniting Potential<\/a><\/em>. The 24-hour online effort aims to raise $135,000 in support of shared mission of improving the lives of youth in Orange County.<\/p>\n

Igniting Potential<\/em>\u00a0is part of a bold initiative by OCCF to enhance the capacity of local nonprofits through a series of Collaborative Giving Days. Nonprofits with shared missions are invited to come together to boost collective giving for their causes. OCCF will power the\u00a0Igniting Potential\u00a0<\/em>campaign by providing seed funding to support the marketing assets, campaign resources and collaborative partnerships.<\/p>\n

The twelve participating nonprofits include Assistance League of Irvine, Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County, Boys Hope Girls Hope of Southern California, Global G.L.O.W., Kid Healthy, KidWorks, MOMS Orange County, Parentis Foundation, Playworks Southern California, Pretend City Children’s Museum, Scholar\u2019s Hope Project and The Literacy Project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are grateful for continued support from the Orange County Community Foundation and to collaborate with 11 other amazing nonprofits in an effort to continue to raise financial support and awareness to support the children of Orange County,\u201d says LaVal Brewer, Executive Director of Playworks Southern California. \u201cThese funds will directly support our programming in 30 Title I elementary schools positively impacting up to 22,000 children in Orange County in the 2018-19 school year.\u201d<\/p>\n

OCCF first challenged Orange County residents to \u201cgive where their heart lives\u201d during the inaugural\u00a0i\u00a9oc\u00a0Giving Day in 2015, raising more than $1.8 million through gifts to 347 participating nonprofits in just 30 hours. OCCF nearly doubled those results in 2016 during the second annual\u00a0i\u00a9oc\u00a0Giving Day, receiving contributions totaling $3.2 million for 418 participating nonprofits. In 2017, OCCF re-envisioned\u00a0i\u00a9oc\u00a0as an expanded opportunity for nonprofits to connect with one another in support of their shared missions.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt OCCF, we believe collaboration is a powerful change-making tool and an opportunity for these nonprofits to maximize their positive impact on OC\u2019s youth,\u201d said Shelley Hoss, president, OCCF. \u201cWe are proud to empower these organizations by providing the resources needed for success, including a marketing toolkit and a robust online fundraising platform.\u201d<\/p>\n
