Playworks is collaborating with the Portland Trail Blazers as part of five make it better community partners throughout the 2014-15 season. The five Trail Blazers make it better partners include Big Brothers Big Sisters Columbia Northwest, Boys & Girls Clubs of Metro Portland, Playworks, SMART (Start Making a Reader Today), and Urban League of Portland. The Portland Trail Blazers are dedicated to making Oregon and SW Washington a better place for children and families where they live, learn, and play.<\/div>\n

The make it better<\/a> program exist to raise awareness of important issues in our community and to inspire people to change their behavior – to be respectful, to read more with kids, and to stay active. This partnership with the Portland Trail Blazers will ensure that recess is safe, fun, and active for all kids, which increases participation in youth activities and sports, decreases bullying, and increases kids’ abilities to focus in class. The partnership began with an all-team event full of activities for the kids at Boise-Eliot\/Humboldt School.<\/div>\n
