Fifty-four volunteers from Symantec Corporation teamed up with the Playworks AmeriCorps Coaches on November 5, 2010, and picked up paint brushes and rollers to help spruce up the Cesar Chavez School.<\/p>\n
In addition to the school getting a makeover, Playworks received a donation for every hour spent by each volunteer through Symantec’s Dollars for Doers program, the company matches employee contributions of time and resources by donating to the receiving agency. Super F Paint also donated additional supplies, a contribution valued at $280.<\/p>\n
The principal at Cesar Chavez School, Antonio Lopez, expressed his gratitude at the event and said, “We are very thankful for your time and energy, when the kids come in next week and see the work you have done, it will remind them that they are important and the community truly cares for them.”<\/p>\n
Cesar Chavez School is in its first year of partnership with Playworks and we are pleased to have an opportunity to create these types of meaningful service events for our AmeriCorps coaches as well as collaborating with wonderful community partners such as Symantec. The fact that we can make an extra impact for the children at the schools we serve in is the icing on the cake.<\/p>\n
