DESCRIPTION:Do you want to learn how to use play to bring out the best in every kid? Have you heard of Playworks but want to sample our style to see if we are a match for you? Do you want to benefit from Playworks' teachings but haven't be able to organize a larger professional development training? The Playshop is for you. \nPlayworks is excited to bring the Playshop to the Pacific Northwest. This unique three hour professional development workshop is designed to give youth workers\, teachers\, administrators\, parent volunteers and after-school staff a chance to experience Playworks' proven method of using play to bring out the best in every child. This event is run by a certified Playworks' Trainer who will teach attendees basic tools\, activities and tricks to facilitate play among students. \nWe are offering this amazing opportunity to for fun\, dynamic professional development in the Portland area on Saturday\, March 22\, 2014. DESCRIPTION:Thanks to everyone that joined Team Playworks for the Shamrock Run Portland. We made it to fourth largest team this year with 220 participants! We are grateful for our believers and cheerleaders who showed their love at The Oregon Public House\, the race and The Old Gold. We raised more than $2100 for Playworks. Thanks for all the support. She will be reading from her new children’s book Recess Rules.\n\nThe book is about the adventure of four friends to take back recess and make it fun again while proving to the superintendent that recess is important.\n\nThe first five individuals to show up and tell Jill the name of your favorite recess game will receive a free signed copy of her book. Green Bean Books is a wild and whimsical community-based\, independent children’s bookstore in the Alberta Arts District of Portland\, Oregon. Green Bean Books is located on 1600 NE Alberta Street\, Portland\, Oregon 97211.\n\n\nAbout the Author:\nJill Vialet is the CEO and founder of Playworks. Jill has won a number of awards for her work with Playworks\, including the Ashoka Fellowship\, the Forbes 30 Leading Social Entrepreneurs\, the James Irvine Award and the Women’s Sports Foundation’s 40 for 40. Jill grew up in Washington\, DC where she played in epic games of Capture the Flag as a child. She now lives in Oakland\, California with her family. Recess Rules is her first book.
