Coach Dawn makes\u00a0excellent happen by going above and beyond for the students in her junior coach program.<\/p>\n<p>As a reward for their awesome work at recess since the start of school, Coach Dawn took her 15 junior coaches on an ice skating field trip at the Frog Pond in the Boston Common. For many of her junior coaches, this was their first time ice skating. To see the joy and laughter on their faces was priceless.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Dawn is finding many ways to strengthen the junior coach program throughout Metro Boston. She recently took the initiative to write a proposal for a grant to support the junior coach program. She began by researching potential funders and narrowing her search down to a select few. Then, on her own personal time, Coach Dawn worked closely with the development team to get a better understanding of Playworks message to write a proposal for a $100,000 grant from the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rileyfoundation.com\/\">Riley Foundation.<\/a>\u00a0If awarded, this grant would be given to Playworks Metro Boston over the next two years specifically to support the junior coach program.<\/p>\n<p>Coach Dawn brings a positive attitude, enthusiasm, and passion to all the Playworks components she runs. During the school day Coach Dawn can be found outside playing\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/make-recess-count\/games\/iron-lungs\">iron lung<\/a>\u00a0kickball, superstar knockout and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/make-recess-count\/games\/three-lines-soccer\">three line soccer<\/a>\u00a0with her students. She brings her enthusiasm to the Playworks girls\u2019 basketball league, where she recruited 11 fourth and fifth grade students to play on her team. She always had full attendance at each game, encouraged cheering on the sideline and made sure her players mastered the designated basketball skill for that week during practice.
