Specifically it\u2019s important to consider:\u00a0<\/span><\/b>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recess Schedule &amp; Group Sizes<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to utilize natural zones\/areas to keep groups separated<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ensuring enough space for games to be played safely<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"2\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Where will students transition in and out of the building to avoid overlapping and crowding?<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"color: #8b3e7f;\"><strong><span style=\"color: #c55d18;\">RITUAL:<\/span> <\/strong><span style=\"color: #1a2845;\">Em<\/span><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #1a2845;\">p<\/span>ower<\/span><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your students to be successful by starting each recess with a brief opening to introduce activities and remind students about expectations. Similarly, you can help prepare your students to return to learning with a daily recess closing and cool down. By making these rituals a regular part of each day, you can build consistency for your students.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b><span style=\"color: #c55d18;\">RULES:<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Set simple expectations for your students and encourage them to be creative within them. Consider co-constructing these rules with your students so they feel engaged in the process and ownership of the end product. Learn m<\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b><b><b><\/b><\/b><\/b>ore in our <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/07\/Recess-Guidelines.pdf\">Recess Guidelines<\/a><\/span><\/b><b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> informed by <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/community\/schools-childcare\/schools.html#anchor_1589932065842\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CDC <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/tracking.cirrusinsight.com\/cb6b4077-8665-4a4a-9253-75f714806b78\/doe-mass-edu-covid19-on-desktop-2020-0722facilities-operations-guide-docx\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">DESE <\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">guidance.<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b><span style=\"color: #c55d18;\">RECESS TEAM:<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Using your recess map to assign roles for the recess team will be critical. Ensure each team member knows which space they are responsible for and a few games that can be played in that space.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/b><\/li>\n<li aria-level=\"1\"><b><b><b><span style=\"color: #c55d18;\">GAMES: <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As you\u2019re setting up the different zones of your recess area, plan to offer 1-2 rotational games or activities every day to provide consistency and engage a variety of students across skill levels. You can then supplement these core games with a <strong>Game of the Week<\/strong> that can be played with students properly distanced.
