\"\"Playworks Metro Boston's October Coach of the Month, Coach Mika is a second year program coordinator with an immense passion for play. She returned to Manning Elementary School with the hope of continuing the healthy and inclusive community she worked so hard to build in her first year. <\/span><\/p>\n

During the month of October, Mika made excellent happen throughout the Playworks community by being a team player and becoming a role model for her peers and her students. Always willing to assist those in need, Mika co-lead the Mentor\/Mentee program, planned and facilitated several all staff trainings and hosted first year PCs at her school. <\/span><\/p>\n

Mika maintainins a healthy community by recruiting many students and families from her school to attend the 2012 Play Across the City.  <\/strong><\/em>And the proof is in the whipped cream pie she got thrown in her face.<\/p>\n

She is passionate about having her students become active and engaged, which can be seen through the Field Day she organized for her school, the running club she has implemented at recess and the Fit Kid Challenge she is planning for the month of February.<\/p>\n

Coach Mika has witnessed firsthand the power of play and the importance it can have in the lives of her students. Her ongoing commitment to her school, the Playworks community and her peers is truly admirable. We are confident that Coach Mika will continue to make excellent happen throughout the school year — not only at the Manning, but throughout all Metro Boston. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
