Coach Avre is a second-year coach at the Robert Frost Elementary School in Lawrence, MA. Although he only started halfway through the 2018-19 school year, Avre is a critical member of the Playworks team in Lawrence and has taken on a leadership role for his fellow coaches.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

This year, Playworks has six school partners in the Lawrence School District. As the only returning coach in the district, Avre has stepped up as a mentor for his colleagues. Avre works intentionally to create a community with Playworks staff in Lawrence and is always willing to provide advice or guidance. He was also essential in planning and running Playworks Girls’ Basketball Leagues in Lawrence this winter, which just wrapped up this week.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coach Avre also leads by example, running a consistently excellent Playworks program at the Frost. As the Playworks coach for over 600 students, Coach Avre demonstrates his strong group management skills every day. But Avre also takes the time to tailor his program based on the individual needs of every student. He has built a strong rapport with his students, and it is clear they trust him and look up to him.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Coach Avre is always looking for ways to improve recess, whether it\u2019s indoors or outdoors. According to Playworks New England Associate Program Director Samuel Englert,\u00a0 \u201cYou can’t enter the Frost school building without at least one staff person saying how much they love Coach Avre!\u201d<\/strong> We are lucky to have a positive and hard-working coach like Avre on our Playworks team in Lawrence. We know he will continue to bring out the best in his students and colleagues for the rest of the school year!<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
