Coach Carly is the Playworks Coach at the Thomas J. Kenny School in Dorchester. This is Carly\u2019s first year as a coach, and she has gone above and beyond to engage her students and make them feel appreciated.<\/span><\/p>\n

During the fall, Coach Carly gave her students a chance to pie her in the face during recess. The privilege to pie Coach Carly was used as an incentive for following Playworks Core Values of healthy play and inclusion. This is one of many new elements Carly has introduced to recess this year, along with recess tournaments and challenges. Right now, Carly is planning a ‘secret agent’ themed week where students will work together and use their imaginations to solve clues at recess.<\/span><\/p>\n

Coach Carly has worked hard to build relationships with everyone in the Kenny community, including students, parents, and school staff. She joined the school’s network meetings and has linked the monthly themes to her lessons during class game time and recess.<\/span><\/p>\n

Over the last few months, Carly has made an effort to incorporate special \u2018appreciation claps\u2019 to encourage student participation. Now, whenever a student raises their hand during class game time, they receive appreciation from Coach Carly and their entire class.<\/span><\/p>\n

We are lucky to have a positive, innovative, and hardworking coach like Carly representing Playworks at the Kenny School. We know she will continue to transform the school day for her students for the rest of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n
