The <\/span>Recess Checkup<\/span><\/a> is an online quiz designed to identify strengths of your school’s recess and uncover areas for improvement. When schools take the confidential three-minute check, they are able to understand what is really happening on the playground.<\/span><\/p>\n

Schools across the country are taking the Recess Checkup and receiving tools and resources to help them improve their recesses based on their results. <\/span><\/p>\n

The West Somerville Neighborhood School in Somerville, MA, took the Recess Checkup this year and has made major improvements using our <\/span>Recess Lab<\/span><\/a> resources. More adults are engaged and more students are resolving their conflicts without fighting or violence. Using the Recess Checkup, they have been able to track improvements in student engagement and physical activity at recess<\/span><\/p>\n

Playworks is partnering with the American Heart Association to ensure that as many kids as possible across New England are leading active, healthy lifestyles. The American Heart Association will be sharing the Recess Checkup with schools through the <\/span>AHA Kid\u2019s Heart Challenge<\/span><\/a>, a school initiative encouraging students to remain physically active throughout the day. <\/span><\/p>\n
