\"\"Coach Sarah is a first year program coordinator at Playworks Metro Boston. From her very first day on the job, she completely immersed herself into the Playworks culture, mission and values. <\/p>\n

Coach Sarah serves  at the Franklin D. Roosevelt K-8 school in Hyde Park, MA. Determined to make excellent happen at this school, within the first month she helped plan, organize and lead a Walk for Recess. When each grade level came out to participate in the walk, Coach Sarah led stretches and cheers to get everyone ready and excited for their walk. This event gave students, parents and friends the ability to fundraise for the school portion of the Playworks fee, raising a total of $11,000! <\/p>\n

During the month of January, Coach Sarah made excellent happen by exceeding all expectations for the girls and boys basketball programs at her school. She showed her dedication to the girls’ basketball leagues from the very beginning of the program, donating basketball equipment to league nights to ensure that all participants had a great time. Coach Sarah then recruited 13 fourth and fifth grade girls from her school to play in the Playworks basketball league. She also  recruited a parent as her assistant coach for the season. Each week she had full attendance at the FDR’s game with her team cheering each other on and perfecting the designated basketball skill for that week. <\/span><\/p>\n

Coach Sarah’s desire to make excellent happen at her school led her to the decision to launch an after-school boys’ basketball clinic in January. The girls’ basketball league had been such a success, she wanted to make sure the boys in her school had the same opportunity to play basketball. On her own time, Coach Sarah created a curriculum for the boys and got a friend to volunteer time to help out with the clinics. The program has been a huge success and the participants have gained a significant amount of knowledge in basketball, teamwork and sportsmanship. <\/span><\/p>\n

Coach Sarah can always be found with a smile on her face, energizing everyone around her and lending a helping hand to her fellow colleagues. In her first year, Coach Sarah has shown that she is committed to making excellent happen and building the Playworks Metro Boston movement.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
