{"id":272,"date":"2015-07-20T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2015-07-20T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/new-england\/2015\/07\/20\/playworks-massachusetts-executive-director-presented-the-alfred-frechette-award\/"},"modified":"2018-12-04T15:35:35","modified_gmt":"2018-12-04T20:35:35","slug":"playworks-massachusetts-executive-director-presented-the-alfred-frechette-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/new-england\/2015\/07\/20\/playworks-massachusetts-executive-director-presented-the-alfred-frechette-award\/","title":{"rendered":"Playworks Massachusetts Executive Director Presented the Alfred Frechette Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Public Health Leadership Award Presented to\u00a0Max Fripp<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Boston, MA \u2013 The Massachusetts Public Health Association (MPHA) has presented the\u00a0Alfred\u00a0Frechette\u00a0Award to Max Fripp, MEd, Executive Director, Playworks Massachusetts,\u00a0in recognition of his outstanding leadership to create safe, inclusive school environments that allow kids to learn, play, and thrive.<\/p>\n<p>In presenting the award, MPHA cited Fripp\u2019s extraordinary initiative and leadership in creating healthy and vibrant schools.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMr. Fripp is responsible for the successful play of hundreds of children throughout Massachusetts communities.\u00a0His impact through Playworks provides students with a space for safe and healthy play,\u201d said MPHA Executive Director Rebekah Gewirtz. \u201cAnd more importantly, his work is increasing the success of students in the classroom, and in life.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since Fripp joined Playworks in 2008, the program has grown from serving 14 Boston schools, to a statewide program partnering with 43 schools across the Commonwealth. In 2010, Playworks was recognized as a Social Innovator by Root Cause\u2019s Social Innovation Forum.\u00a0Prior to Playworks, Fripp spent four years at Citizen Schools, including two-years as an AmeriCorps Teaching Fellow at the Irving Middle School in the Roslindale neighborhood of Boston.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<p><strong>About the Massachusetts Public Health Association<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>MPHA is a private, non-profit, statewide membership organization that promotes \u201caction for equity in health\u201d through advocacy, public education, community organizing, and coalition-building.\u00a0 Our focus is on policies and programs to prevent illness, disease, and injury, particularly to promote health equity among all communities.
