Coach Dani is a first year Jesuit Volunteer Corps Coach at the Boston Teachers Union School (BTU) in Jamaica Plain. <\/span><\/p>\n

This year, Coach Dani worked hard alongside lunch staff to ensure the best possible recess experience for her students. Dani created folders for staff members as resources that include games to play and strategies to help resolve conflicts.<\/span><\/p>\n

For her Junior Coaches, Coach Dani implemented a points-based incentive system where they earn rewards both inside the classroom and outside at recess. The points system holds students accountable for their actions and keeps students engaged throughout the school day. Dani\u2019s Junior Coaches are now able to open and close recess on their own with no adult supervision. <\/span><\/p>\n

The BTU also held a \u2018Rock, Paper, Scissors\u2019 week. The Junior Coaches kept track of how many times Rock, Paper, Scissors was used to solve conflicts at recess. Coach Dani is always pushing Junior Coaches to learn from each other and grow as leaders in the school.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only does Dani have great relationships with students and staff at the BTU, but she is also organized with her work and meets expectations weeks ahead of deadlines. She is always professional when collaborating with adults in school and interacting with the parent community. <\/span><\/p>\n

We\u2019re proud to have a hard working and impactful coach like Dani representing Playworks in the Boston community. We are grateful for her year of service as a Jesuit Volunteer Corps Coach at the BTU.<\/span><\/p>\n
