Playworks Coach Dana Harris, Junior Coach alumni Chris Maurilus, and teacher Coreen Miranda from the Tobin K-8 School in Roxbury<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On Friday, May 4, over 150 corporate and civic leaders from across Greater Boston gathered at The Lenox Hotel for our third annual Playworks Get in the Game Breakfast<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Speakers from the Tobin K-8 School in Roxbury shared their stories to illustrate how Playworks Stops the Chaos<\/b>, Shifts Behaviors<\/b>, and Accelerates Health and Learning <\/b>in Boston schools.<\/p>\n

Boston Superintendent Tommy Chang <\/strong>presented the Playworks Gamechanger Award to Jill Shah<\/strong>, co-founder of the Shah Family Foundation, for her work\u00a0<\/b>to provide fresh and nutritious food to students every day. In her speech, Jill described the goals of the Shah Family Foundation to make schools a place for every student to grow and thrive in a safe and supportive environment.<\/p>\n

The theme of this year’s breakfast was ‘Every Kid, Every Day.’ We highlighted how programs like Playworks’ and the Shah Family Foundation’s leverage under-utilized times of the school day\u2014lunch and recess\u2014to transform school climate for Boston students. We are dedicated to reaching every kid, every day and we are grateful for our supporters who share our vision.<\/p>\n

Guests filled out donation cards to pledge support for Playworks in the upcoming school year. $115,000 <\/b>in total funds were raised, which will allow Playworks to continue our expansion to an additional 10 Boston Public Schools next year.<\/p>\n
