Junior Coach Mia stands out as a kind and motivated leader at the Frost Elementary School in Lawrence. Mia takes her role as a Junior Coach very seriously\u00a0and has excelled on and off the playground as a positive role model for her peers.<\/span><\/p>\n

Mia is the only Junior Coach at her shift during Kindergarten recess. She is always on time, hard-working, and patient with the younger students. Mia keeps her recess engaging by finding or inventing games that everyone will love. Students always ask for Mia on the rare occasions that she can\u2019t make one of her shifts, showing how essential she is to the recess team at the Frost!<\/span><\/p>\n

Recently, Mia has been working hard to implement the conflict resolution strategies she has learned in Junior Coach training.<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Coach Justine, \u201cTwo of Mia’s strengths are communication and patience which are essential when trying to solve problems on the recess yard. If there is a problem, she listens to both students’ sides of the story to come up with a resolution that works for all. If that doesn’t work, she politely asks for adult help in a calm way that doesn’t escalate the problem. Mia is calm, cool, and collected which is part of why she is an amazing Junior Coach.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

We are proud to have Mia on our Playworks team at the Frost. We know she will continue to make a difference at school every day, demonstrating Playworks\u2019 core values of respect, healthy play, and inclusion.<\/span><\/p>\n

It means a lot to be Junior Coach of the Month. It\u2019s almost like a dream come true!<\/span><\/p>\n

My favorite part is having fun and playing with all the little kids.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What is one thing you\u2019ve learned from Coach Justine at Junior Coach Training?<\/span><\/h3>\n

I\u2019ve learned that it\u2019s important to always have fun.<\/span><\/p>\n

Q: What is a piece of advice you would give to other Junior Coaches who want to be successful?<\/span><\/h3>\n

I would tell other Junior Coaches to be kind and have fun!<\/span><\/p>\n
