For the past four years, Boston Scientific, an innovator of medical solutions that improve the health of patients around the world,&nbsp;has accelerated learning and health for over 16,000 students in Boston and Marlborough. The company&rsquo;s commitment to reducing health disparities and supporting disease prevention aligns with our mission. With Boston Scientific&#39;s support,&nbsp;we are able to demonstrate volunteering&nbsp;coupled with daily programming increases daily physical activity and decrease childhood obesity for Massachusetts&rsquo; most vulnerable youth.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"220\" width=\"220\" style=\"width: 220px; height: 220px; margin: 10px; float: right;\" class=\"media-element file-media-original\" src=\"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2017\/09\/goplayworks_220x220.jpg\" data-original=\"{&quot;fid&quot;:&quot;6111&quot;,&quot;view_mode&quot;:&quot;media_original&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;media&quot;,&quot;attributes&quot;:{&quot;height&quot;:220,&quot;width&quot;:220,&quot;style&quot;:&quot;width: 220px; height: 220px; margin: 10px; float: right;&quot;,&quot;class&quot;:&quot;media-element file-media-original&quot;}}\"\/>This summer, Boston Scientific employees volunteered to paint playground murals to be placed at the Early Childhood Center Preschool, Kane Elementary School and Jaworek Elementary School in Marlborough. The goal: to beautify the playground and ensure children have a safe, positive space to be physically active. This fall, volunteers will visit the schools&nbsp;to hang the murals and lead healthy activities and games at recess.<\/p>\n<p>During the 2013-14 school year, Boston Scientific also invested in training teachers and paraprofessionals at the three Marlborough Public Elementary Schools. Participants learned strategies and tools to organize a safe, healthy recess in order to maximize physical activity. This, in addition to a Boston Scientific Foundation grant to expand Playworks&rsquo; direct service programming in Boston schools, improved the health and well-being of thousands of children.
