This is the first year the Henderson School has Playworks programming and Coach K is determined to make excellent happen at her school. She has done an incredible job teaching staff, faculty and students the Playworks values. Coach K was featured in the Henderson School newsletter, which is distributed to the entire school community. The newsletter interviewed Coach K and interviewed students about their excitement for the Playworks launch at the Henderson.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"180\" width=\"350\" style=\"width: 220px; height: 113px; margin: 10px; float: right;\" class=\"media-element file-media-original\" src=\"https:\/\/www.playworks.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2017\/09\/newbalance_1_0.jpg\" data-original=\"{&quot;fid&quot;:&quot;4172&quot;,&quot;view_mode&quot;:&quot;media_original&quot;,&quot;type&quot;:&quot;media&quot;,&quot;attributes&quot;:{&quot;height&quot;:180,&quot;width&quot;:350,&quot;style&quot;:&quot;width: 220px; height: 113px; margin: 10px; float: right;&quot;,&quot;class&quot;:&quot;media-element file-media-original&quot;}}\"\/>During the month of October, Coach K made excellent happen by going above all expectations for the Girl&rsquo;s Basketball Extravaganza event at Northeastern University. The Girl&rsquo;s Basketball Extravaganza is a free, two hour basketball clinic put on for 4th and 5th grade girls. The extravaganza gives the opportunity for girls to learn fundamental basketball and teamwork skills. The weeks leading up to the event, Coach K was able to pump up the excitement for the event through cheers and reminders going home to families. Although Northeastern is approximately a twenty five minute drive from her school, Coach K was able to recruit 28 girls to come to the event.<\/p>\n<p>Not only did Coach K do an amazing job recruiting girls for the event, she choose to attend the event on a Sunday morning for three hours. This event was not mandatory for coaches to attend, but Coach K volunteered to help support the event and her students. She helped make excellent happen on the day of the event by setting up the stations, directing attendees toward the gymnasium and giving positive reinforcement for all girls. While the event was happening, Coach K set up an area for younger siblings to play with one another while their older siblings participated in the extravaganza.
