Baltimore, MD—March 13, 2018—Being a Junior Coach is very exciting and important for students. Playworks Junior Coach program gives students the opportunity to be role models and display their leadership skills to their peers during recess. Frederick Elementary has fourteen Junior Coaches, all of whom possess leadership skills, have eccentric personalities, and are eager to support their coach.
During a visit to Frederick Elementary School in Baltimore City, Junior Coaches lead games such as basketball, switch, and freeze dance during fourth grade recess. Throughout the duration of their time the Junior Coaches ensured that every student felt included. They were actively engaged and displayed a willingness to jump in the game while still being leaders during recess. Playworks Coaches teach Junior Coaches the importance of utilizing Playworks core values each and every day: respect, inclusion, healthy community and healthy play.
