During the New Orleans Sport for Good Community Summit, Playworks Lousiana joined the Aspen Institute, Laureus Sport for Good Foundation, and the New Orleans Sport for Community Coalition to explore ways that sports and physical activity can empower communities to enact social change. Playworks engaged with a diverse group of educators, nonprofit leaders, youth sports providers, professional sports leagues, and community advocates to discuss the critical role sports play in addressing community needs.
Summit topics included obesity and youth violence prevention, as well as educational access and equity. Because the summit was focused on the New Orleans community, Playworks Louisana was able to discuss the unique obstacles its students face and explore ways to meet their needs.
Playworks Louisiana looks forward to further collaboration with youth development thought-leaders to bring out the best in every kid through play.
