SUMMARY:Playworks Texas Helps Houston Neighbors Rebuild
DESCRIPTION:From the Playworks Texas Team: Hurricane Harvey did the unimaginable to our city but our team and the whole city of Houston are putting our best feet forward and helping rebuild our communities. Friday we had the opportunity to team up with Wheeler Avenue Baptist Church at their relief donation center and help community members get supplies that they need to move forward. The smiles we shared speak volumes to the fact that despite what life and weather may throw our way and the negativity it may try to bring\, we are here to make a difference and we are #houstonstrong! \n#hurricaneharvey #movingforward

SUMMARY:Teaching & Learning 2014 Conference
DESCRIPTION:On Friday\, March 14 and Saturday\, March 15\, Playworks will be at Booth 709 at the Teaching & Learning 2014 Conference at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC.  We are excited to contribute to the conversation about the role of recess\, play\, and physical activity in education. \nPlay and recess are extremely valuable resources for teachers. Play and physical activity allows children to grow socially\, emotionally and cognitively\, paving the way for a more fulfilling educational experience. Play at recess helps kids release energy so they return to the classroom focused and ready to learn. Play in the classroom helps students bond with their peers and teachers\, allowing them to feel comfortable and tackle more complex learning. \nCome experience our methods first hand by playing four square and receiving information about how our program operates. We will be sharing data detailing our successes from schools around the country and you might also win a fun prize for playing games with us! \nThe Teaching & Learning 2014 Conference is presented by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS).  The NBPTS’s mission is to advance student learning and achievement by establishing the definitive standards and systems for certifying accomplished educators\, providing programs and advocating policies that support excellence in teaching and leading and engaging National Board Certified Teachers (NBCTs) and leaders in that process.
