February 2012:
Flint Mitchell

Flint Mitchell, PhD  is a program officer at the Greater New Orleans Foundation. He has over 10 years of experience dealing with health, education, and child and youth development for non-profits. Flint Mitchell has taken time, even prior to meeting with Playworks NOLA Staff, to assist in building relationships in the community that will benefit the Playworks NOLA Program. Dr. Mitchell really understands what the Playworks program is about and has been able to connect Playworks NOLA staff with several key players in the world of New Orleans Public Education.

January 2012:
Crescent City SEC Kickoff Committee
For the past three years Playworks NOLA has been the grateful beneficiary of a donation made by the Crescent City SEC Kickoff Committee. Each year the New Orleans committee has a party to kick off the college football season for the southeastern conference.  This year’s party was held at 12 Bar in the warehouse district. The committee charged a fair cover charge to get into the party and provided the guests with drink deals, food from some of New Orleans’ famous restaurants and music. Playworks NOLA is able to continue doing the work it does in schools because of people like those of the Crescent City SEC Kickoff Committee.

December 2011:
Patrick Corbin
Oft-labeled “Volunteer Extrordinaire”, by Playworks program staff, Dr. Patrick Corbin is a mainstay at many Playworks NOLA Events from fundraisers to Service Saturdays. Corbin began volunteering with Playworks NOLA in December of last year and has been to several Playworks Saturday Service volunteer events to help bolster the people power our AmeriCorps Members already provide. In addition to volunteer work, Dr. Corbin helps to set up and breakdown many other Playworks NOLA events in his free time. Corbin is the Director of Mathematics Center at Loyola University New Orleans.

Thanks, Patrick for your continued support of Playworks NOLA’s endeavors outside of the school environment!

November 2011:
Cheyanne Woodyard

Cheyanne Woodyard is a volunteer who has begun working in the Playworks NOLA office at least once a week. Hardworking and creative, Cheyanne has helped to do everything in the office from data entry to updating the many social networking sites that Playworks NOLA maintains. Tune into our Twitter and Facebook to read some of the great articles about Play she finds. With the help of Cheyanne, other office staff have more time to take on other Playworks Program related projects. She is a valuable member of the team. Thanks Cheyanne!

October 2011:
Colleen Kudla Arceneaux and Andy Chrestman
Colleen Kudla Arceneaux and Andy Chrestman both serve as City Board Members for Playworks NOLA. They were kind enough to team up to plan a 'House Party Fundraiser' for the benefit of Playworks NOLA. We thank them for their dedication to Play in New Orleans, for supporting Playworks NOLA and for opening up their homes to fans and future fans of Playworks.

August 2011:
Alex Hancock
Alexander Hancock joined the Playworks New Orleans team at the end of May, serving as our Development Intern for the summer. Alexander comes to Playworks after two years at the Institute for Quality and Equity in Education at Loyola New Orleans, where he worked -- among other responsibilities- to foster community engagement.

June 2011:
Steven Bliss
Steven Bliss, Playworks NOLA's founding Program Manager, will be leaving in early July to move forward with his career in education with Crescent City Schools. For 3 years, Steven has led our program staff and maintained healthy relationships with schools and other organizations in order to promote play and Playworks. The kids and all of us are going to miss him but appreciate that he has a wonderful opportunity to learn new skills that will benefit New Orleans children. Good luck Steven!
