School may have been off for winter break, but from Feb 17-18th, Playworks' progamming was in full swing, as 59 junior coaches from 13 schools gathered together for the 2nd annual Junior Coach Leadership Convention!
The 2 day event provided a forum for 5th graders to increase their leadership skills through a series of fun workshops. We kicked off Day 1 with team-building activities, public-speaking practice, goal-setting, and a showcase for the JCs to teach everyone their favorite games.

Day 2 found us at Northeastern University, where we focused on all things college. JCs asked a student athlete panel thoughtful questions about time management, life on campus, and sports at the college level, before the Northeastern athletes turned the tables and asked the JCs about themselves and their roles in their school communities.
The panel was followed by an awesome scavenger hunt, where we all had a blast working together and being resourceful to answer all of the questions, while exploring the campus and playing games and cheering with Northeastern students.
For most of the JCs, Day 2 was the 1st time they had ever been on a college campus, so it was especially exciting to spread the word about play there. As the end of day recess rolled around, we heard JCs exclaiming how much fun they had, how much they learned, and how they couldn't wait another 365 days until the next JCLC.
