In too many communities, children are unable to participate in organized sports activities due to barriers like costs and logistics. Playworks opens the field to thousands of children in low-income schools. Our developmental interscholastic sports leagues break down the barriers to entry and include boys, girls and co-ed sports. The leagues provide an opportunity for these students to learn the basics of games like basketball, volleyball, soccer, flag football and others, and give them a chance to develop a love of sports in a positive, encouraging environment where basic skills, teamwork and sporting behavior are stressed over winning.
