Ms. Ulin and Ms. Stevenson, Educators of the Month

  1. Updates

Congratulations to our dream team duo from Albert Story School, Amanda Ulin and Judy Stevenson, for being chosen as this month’s Playworks Educator of the Month Award. Ms. Ulin teaches 4th and 5th grade while Ms. Stevenson teaches 2nd grade at Story School. Both educators actively encourage all students to get in the game everyday!

Ms. Ulin leads her own games for her class during indoor recess. As soon as Coach Maddy walks in the room, her class is already playing, and often, she is the one acting as coach and leading the game. She uses ro-sham-bo (rock, paper, scissors) in class; she attends Playworks events; and she uses play to connect with her class on a regular basis. In addition, Ms. Ulin has worked to problem-solve with her colleagues to find more opportunities for students to take ownership of their play.

Ms. Stevenson recently began recess duty, but already recess has improved greatly. She plays right along with the kids, has an infectious positive attitude, and leads games with no reservations. She encourages play at recess because she PLAYS at recess! Ms. Stevenson has amazing rapport with her students because she treats them like they are all family and the class has such a healthy community. She cheers the loudest and give the best figh-fives in all of 2nd grade.

Playworks is thrilled to have such a great team in place to advocate play at Albert Story School.
